An unforgettable Homestay experience in Italy

My stay at Homestay Italian Courses was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by Sira, a warm and gracious hostess, and her two cats, whose hospitality instantly made me feel like family. Her home, nestled in the rolling hills of the Italian countryside, was cozy, beautifully kept, and full of charm—offering the perfect balance between comfort and authenticity.
The highlight of the experience for me was to be able to improve my Italian. Sira was incredibly patient and encouraging, often slipping in new words and phrases during mealtimes and casual conversations. It wasn’t just a lesson in language—it was an immersion into culture, tradition, and everyday life. By the end of the stay, I found my confidence had improved along with my Italian language skills – with outings to the shops and market, chatting with Sira and her friends, I understood so much more by the end of my week’s stay.
Each day brought a new adventure. We visited nearby hilltop towns brimming with history, wandered through cobblestone streets, admired centuries-old churches, and indulged in local shops and markets overflowing with fresh produce and artisan goods. Whether it was a bustling piazza or a secluded beach with breathtaking views, every place we explored had its own story to tell.
And then, there was the food—an experience all its own. Sira’s cooking was absolutely unforgettable: a vibrant expression of traditional Ligurian and regional Italian cuisine, crafted with fresh, local ingredients and deep-rooted culinary wisdom. One of the most memorable moments was our hands-on cooking class, where she patiently guided me through the art of preparing a rich, slow-simmered tagliatelle al ragù—an experience as heartwarming as it was delicious. From that to her fragrant sauces and perfectly balanced dishes, every meal felt like a loving tribute to generations of Italian home cooking. Mealtimes quickly became my favourite part of the day, not just for the incredible flavours, but for the warmth, stories, and laughter shared around the table.
This wasn’t just a trip to improve my Italian language skills — it was a deeply enriching experience that left me feeling inspired, nourished, and grateful. If you’re looking for more than just a place to stay and instead want a true taste of Italy—language, culture, cuisine, and heartfelt connection— Homestay Italian Courses is everything you could hope for and more.
Grazie mille, Sira! I’ll carry these memories with me always.
